Cookie policy

This site sets very few cookies and none of them are for advertising. Here is each one, what it does, and how to refuse the ones that are not strictly necessary.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise the browser on a later request. Related technologies — local storage and session storage — work similarly and are covered by this policy where we use them.

The plugin does not set cookies on your visitors

This policy covers this website. RuleFence, installed on your own WordPress site, does not set cookies on your visitors and does not track them. It governs requests made by agents, which are server-side and carry no browser session.

Cookies this site uses

Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off from here.

CookiePurposeDuration
wordpress_sec_*Keeps a logged-in editor authenticated. Only set if you log in to the site.Session, or 14 days if you choose to stay signed in
wordpress_logged_in_*Identifies a logged-in editor to the site.Session, or 14 days
wp-settings-*Remembers an editor’s admin interface preferences.1 year

If you only read the site and never log in, the authentication cookies above are never set.

Advertising

None. We do not run advertising, we do not embed advertising networks, and we do not build advertising profiles from your visit.

Third-party content

Pages that embed third-party content — a video, a map, a payment form — can allow that provider to set its own cookies once the embed loads. Where we use one, it is named in the section above and its own privacy notice applies to what it sets.

Checkout is handled by our payment processor, which sets cookies necessary to complete a payment securely.

How to control cookies

Because this site sets no analytics or advertising cookies, there is no consent banner to interact with — there is nothing non-essential to consent to. Control is therefore in your hands, in your browser.

  • In your browser. Every major browser can block or delete cookies, per site or globally. Look under Privacy or Site settings.
  • Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We set no non-essential cookies, so these signals have nothing to switch off — and we will honour them if that ever changes.
  • If we add analytics. Non-essential cookies would be set only after an explicit choice, presented in a banner, and this page would be updated first.
Blocking necessary cookies

You can refuse them in your browser. Reading the site still works; staying signed in as an editor does not.

Changes to this policy

We update this page whenever the set of cookies changes. The effective date at the top reflects the current version, and the privacy policy explains how the data behind these cookies is handled.

The shorter answer

No advertising. No profiling. No tracking pixels.

The same principle the product runs on: collect what the job requires, and say so plainly.
